Splish Splash

Yesterday we got Courtney a new baby pool and thought we would share some photos that we took this afternoon.  As you can see she LOVED it and it was fun watching her play while Philip and I relaxed on the deck.

It was a little chilly at first, but Courtney finally decided to sit down in the water.

Looking at the sun.

For some unknown reason, Courtney likes to stick her tongue out while splashing in the water.

Guess What!!!!!

My final interview was yesterday for the 2008-2009 President's Ambassador Scholarship Program and I was one of the 5 women selected!!!!!  I'm very excited to be given this opportunity and I look forward to working with the school and representing them. Over 1600 people applied for this program and I'm thrilled to have been chosen and to be working with such an elite group of people.  I'm glad all the interviews are over because they were all a little stressful one way or another, but I'm honored to have been given such a prestigious title.  Just wanted to let everyone know the good news!

Father's Day

Philip's father's day gift finally came in today and I was able to pick it up and bring it home with the help of my cousin (Lee).  As you can see, I think he's really going to like it!  Instead of our yard taking four hours to cut, it should only take about an hour or so.  We had a push mower and after three times of breaking down and going to the shop, we weren't going to put anymore money into that horrible thing.  I might also mention that the push mower was only a year old and had problems since the day we purchased it.  If you or anyone you know are looking into buying a push mower, don't buy a John Deere!  That thing has been nothing more than a headache and the customer service department isn't worth mentioning either.  Anyway, Courtney and I wanted to include a picture of our wonderful gift were giving Philip for father's day this year.

Final Round

I got the news yesterday afternoon that I've been selected to be in the final round interview for the President's Ambassador Program.  The last interview will be Thursday, June 26 with the university president conducting the meeting and several of his cabinet members. Even if I'm not selected, I will be glad to be interview free for a while.  One way or another interviews are stressful and it will be nice not to have worry about them until I get out of school and start looking for a job. Oh and on another good note... I've lost 6 pounds just this week alone!  My goal is to lose 2-3 pounds a week, but somehow 6 pounds has melted away.  I've started a modified low carb diet and really been hitting the elliptical hard and the results are starting to show. Hopefully I can keep the good work up and keep myself motivated.  Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know of the good news!

New Dining Room Table

Our new dining room table arrived Thursday afternoon after waiting three months!  It has a butterfly leaf built in underneath and will expand to seat eight guests.  Philip's family will get to try it out today when they come over for an afternoon cookout at our house, so we'll see what they think.

Family Update

Well, my summer class (anatomy and physiology) is going OK and hopefully it will be another class behind me once the semester is over. My first test was last night and it was such a relief to get the first one behind me. For some reason I always stress more about the first test and then after that I'm usually OK. Courtney is walking everywhere and even made it half way up the stairs Monday night with Nana and I watching. She's walking everywhere and chasing Phoebe all over the house. Phoebe these days looks forward to Courtney's naps just as much as I do. Courtney loves playing hide and go seek with Phoebe, but I don't think Phoebe is as enthusiastic as Courtney is about it. Our new dining room table and chairs will be delivered on Thursday and just in time for a cookout which we're hosting for Philip's family on father's day. I also have my final interview on Thursday for the President's Ambassador Program so as soon as I hear the news I will let everyone know. Our flowers are in full bloom and I have included some pictures and the bottom of this post. Most of the flowers except for the daylilies are on the back deck, which is completed except for being stained. This fall we will be staining the deck ourselves, but not until this blistering weather cools down. Enjoy the pics!

Next Round

Well, I received an e-mail this morning from the President's Ambassador Program Committee and they want me to continue on to the next round of interviews! (YAY)  The second round interview will consist of a individual 15 minute interview and it will take place on June 12.  The candidates have now been narrowed down to 25 and after the second and final interview they will select 4 men and 4 women to be a President's Ambassador.  I'm so excited to have made it this far, but it would be really nice to be one of the four women selected!  Keep your fingers crossed and if it was meant to be then hopefully I will be selected!
